Course Description:

New TCOLE mandated training, this free 4-hour Training course will be offered in a morning session (8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) or afternoon session(1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.).   This course focuses on procedures and communication techniques when interacting with drivers who are deaf or hard of hearing.  This course satisfies requirements for Intermediate Peace Officer Proficiency Certification if licensed on or after 03/01/2016, must be completed within 2 years of licensing.

      Topics include:

  • Understanding the definition of the terms “Deaf” and “Hard of Hearing”
  • Appropriate interaction techniques
  • Communication impediment Program
