Course Description:
The course objectives include, law enforcement encounters with aggressive dogs and other animals are generating more and more media attention and use of force against animals is being questioned. Proper training will both prepare officers for these encounters and reduce criticism when force has to be used. The class will teach officers how to recognize canine aggression and interpret body language. Officers will learn defensive tactics and how to use less-lethal techniques in controlling canine encounters.

Course Description:
TCOLE mandated training, this free 4-hour Training course will be offered in an afternoon session (12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.). This course focuses on procedures and communication techniques when interacting with drivers who are deaf or hard of hearing. This course satisfies requirements for Intermediate Peace Officer Proficiency Certification if licensed on or after 03/01/2016, must be completed within 2 years of licensing.
Topics include:
- Understanding the definition of the terms “Deaf” and “Hard of Hearing”
- Appropriate interaction techniques

Course Description:
The law enforcement officer will be made aware of the causes and effects of stress in the lives of peace officers. The class will also be discussing internal agency issues, stress in the work place, stress confronting the individual officer, fight or flight reactions, some inappropriate approaches to coping with stress, and alcohol and drug abuse as a coping mechanism. Officers will also learn how to use self-hypnosis to manage these and other stress issues.
